Lotus Spa and Salon in Poland has been working hard to prepare since the governor announced that spas and salons may reopen

POLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Ohio spas and salons were able to open for the first time in two months on Friday.

Tina Kohnen, owner of Lotus Spa and Salon in Poland, said she and her employees are now working more than 12 to 15 hours a day to take care of all of their clients.

Excited barely describes what it felt like to reopen her business on Friday morning.

Appointments are now spaced and staggered in time so that they have enough time to clean and sanitize, so no client is likely to be in a space at the same time.

Kohnen and his employees have been working hard to prepare since the governor announced that spas and salons may reopen.

“We definitely had to sit down and re-evaluate how we do business on a daily basis, so basically we just started with the waiting room,” she said.

Kohnen said only the person with an appointment will be allowed to enter the spa at a time. She asks customers to wear masks.

“Please show up on time. You can park in the parking lot, then call or text your technician and let them know you’re here, then we’ll let you know when it’s safe to come to the sanitized facility.

Customers will skip the waiting room and go straight inside to wash their hands.

“You might be asked to take your temperature and once you’re done washing your hands you can go to your technician’s rooms,” Kohnen said.

All of these rooms are separate and private, so it will be you and your technician throughout your appointment.

“You will see your technicians wearing gloves and a face cover and for face to face meetings we will also be wearing a shield,” Kohnen said.

She said there is one more thing to keep in mind.

“It will be up to your technician to decide whether he wants you to wear your face covering for your service or not. “

Kohnen said they rely on their customers to be open and honest with them if they feel sick or have been exposed to COVID-19 and have recently visited their business.

“Please reschedule your appointment to protect us all. “

If for any reason employees come into contact with a customer who has or has been exposed to COVID-19, they work with ServPro. In a few hours, Kohnen said crews would come in and completely pulverize the business so that it could still operate safely.
