Interview with Kimberly Cherie Geiger, Owner and Founder
How did you get started in this business?
Ever since I was a young girl I loved working with hair, nails and skin and making everyone look “pretty” and pampering people. I graduated in cosmetology in 1989 with a specialization in skin care. I have also been an entrepreneur from a young age, so I decided to start my own spa and salon and make people feel good.
What sets you apart from other companies in your category?
Most salons and spas are crowded, busy, and noisy and it’s just not a place for people to relax. I wanted to create an environment where people can relax and feel pampered, even if it’s just a simple haircut or a facial. For me, a visit to the spa and salon means having âtime for myselfâ and a place where I can relax and feel centered while being pampered. I only offer one-on-one service with one client at a time. I get to know my clients and their specific beauty needs, and tailor a menu of service that matches the goals they’re trying to achieve.
What do you like most about your job?
I love to make people feel special and give them a chance to relax and feel pampered. I love working with people and discovering how I can bring a better balance to their lives through various spa services.
What is the biggest challenge for your business?
My biggest challenge this year was moving my spa to the current location. I sold a commercial building I owned in downtown Castle Rock (the old Tana Dolce wine bar and spa), so I had to move the spa to a rented space in Castle Rock. Then I turned around a few months later and moved the spa to downtown Littleton.
Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
One thing most people don’t know about me is that I am also vice president of a commercial bank and have been doing commercial banking for 24 years. I have always led a double life in that I have been a banker, but also the owner of my own business. I have been an entrepreneur since the age of 12. I also founded the Tana Dolce Wine Bar and Spa in downtown Castle Rock. Over the years, I have helped people build their dreams and their businesses.
