Broward County Sheriff’s Office detectives are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a worker at an Oakland Park spa early Monday morning.
The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. at Massage Spa 101 on Oakland Park Boulevard, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said in a press release on Wednesday.
“She does her best to fight him, but he subdues her and beats her sexually,” BSO spokesperson Veda Coleman-Wright said.
Surveillance video shows the suspect speaking with the victim and then pushing her into a back room. Investigators say the suspect pretended to be a customer and asked about spa services.
“At one point he’s upset with the prices,” Coleman-Wright said. “There is a price dispute between him and the employee.”
Minutes after the brutal attack, investigators say he is leaving.
“Very shocking, I didn’t expect something like this to happen in this building,” said Natacha Guichard, who owns a business a few doors down from the square.
Guichard says what happened on Monday could have happened to anyone.
“My assistants, my employees who work here are women,” she said. “They are young girls, and I am a lady too. It’s scary.”
Guichard says it’s so scary and that she plans to install additional security cameras outside of her business.
“I’m thinking of putting something here to make sure that if something happens outside my door, we at least know what’s going on,” she said.
It’s a safety measure that Shaenicole Stanley, who has a lounge next door, is also planning to take.
“It’s a very uncomfortable feeling because as a woman you just want to make sure you’re safe,” Stanley said.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have information or recognize the subject to contact BSO SVU detective Stephanie Simmons at 954-321-4228. Informants who wish to remain anonymous can contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org.
